### Why this category exists

This space is dedicated to games built with LLMs and generative tools. It gives experimental, prompt-driven projects a home without crowding out traditional development threads.

It does NOT pertain to human-produced games where the dev may have used some AI tool to make their job easier (heck; this very forum uses a number of AI tools, so even asking a technical question here would fall under that category, if you stretch it). We don’t need to overanalyze what “vibe-coded” means, I think we all have a pretty good grasp of it.

### How it differs from other boards

Our standard programming sections focus on human craftsmanship, art, and traditional workflows. This section explores what modern tools can produce on vintage hardware, whether you prompted an entire engine into existence or used a model to draft some tricky routines.

### Topic requirements

- **Complete the form:** Every new project thread must use the built-in disclosure form.

- **Be clear about scope:** State openly what the model wrote, what you edited by hand, and where any generated art or sound came from. Good-faith transparency keeps this board useful and avoids pointless arguments.

- **Constructive discussion:** Critique the gameplay, the prompt logic, and the code output. Blanket anti-AI hostility belongs elsewhere; attempting to pass off machine-generated work as hand-crafted assembly will be moderated.

- **Do not post AI-assisted games in other categories.** Doing so will result in their move here, and in repeat cases, in a formal warning.

I have a feeling we’re going to see the line get quite blurred as more people start using AI-generated tools (AI can make you a sprite editor, tile editor etc. very easily).

It’s all so new right now but I guess that some consensus will develop about the line between AI-assisted human work and AI slop - or AI experiments. I feel like there is no substitute for care and attention but you can be meticulous with these tools or you can be slapdash.

Completely agree. And to be honest, I don’t consider a game that has been developed with the help of AI-made tools AI-developed myself. Heck, a dev can use a LLM to look up some command syntax and whatnot. So maybe we’ll have to fine-tune this.
