> **[TOKI IS BACK! - NOP — New Old Pixels](https://newoldpixels.com/#toki-news)**
>
> NOP was founded by video game veterans who were already building games when many of these machines were still on store shelves. After decades spent creating titles for handhelds, consoles, PC & mobile, we chose to return to a simple idea:

> New Old Pixels is proud to announce that it has signed a licensing agreement with Microids to bring Toki, the cult arcade game originally created by TAD Corporation in 1989, to original retro hardware.

> These ports will be released as physical editions for the original hardware. New Old Pixels is currently evaluating several classic platforms based on Motorola 68000 and Zilog Z80 processors.

Wow. Could this be a sign of an unexpected end of “school playtime” in the retro world?

For decades retro has been commercially abandoned, only passion brought people, so we’ve been free to build and play.

If there’s money to be won (or not actually, but some people believe it), old right-holder companies might wake up and set a plan of developing (cheaply, AI has lowered cost to do something), selling and changing the mood for everyone?

Yeah I wouldn’t worry about this becoming an industry

GX4000 and Master System ports are possible. On the MSX2, it would be fabulous as well.

Since the period Megadrive version was a resounding failure, a new one wouldn’t hurt.

Likewise, on the Atari ST, the graphics were rushed for the final levels, so an enhanced STe version would look stunning.
