Love seeing this kind of photos and examining all the items in them - and each game cover I see makes me go “oh!” 🙂

Here’s my beloved Amstrad CPC 464 :3

i bought it from Sore Thumbs Retro Games in York earlier this year, and it was a rather good deal since it included the colour monitor, too!

i do need to try and use it more often, maybe i could get my hands on an SD card storage solution?

and yes that is a K’NEX build right next to it :3

I quite enjoy inspecting people’s hardware from those meet-up photos. Please keep posting them!

BTW, I really admire the brave people who took the time to bring their CRTs there. ✊

This is my OG Schneider CPC 464 which I got in December 1985. Rebranded by me after the Schneider deal with Amstrad was cancelled 😄 And it’s the machine on which I learned Basic and assembly language, wrote my stuff on, like most of the Demos, all type-ins, early sound drivers, the Soundtrakker. And I made all my ST tunes on that one. Connected to a proper HiFi of course. Hence it has a special place in my heart and I will never give it away. 🤗

Strange colors ! Unusual Amstrad logo size, why those missing crenelations facing keys 6 through 0? Is it a custom recently made case?

One of the red buttons in the top-left corner is a reset button. The other one I am actually nor sure. Haven’t used the machine in about 20 years 🙈 The switch below that is pause, I think it goes to the HALT signal. The one at the back (only partly visible) is a ROM switch. I soldered the 6128 OS/Basic ROM piggy backed onto the built-in one and made it switchable.

This was a skip save system, a mate gave me it after finding it thrown out. Nicknamed Scrappy. The tape mech has been replaced, as has the keyboard membrane, cpu. Has jack mods for signal and rem. The original metal label was damaged, so I made custom stickers for it, and painted it black after removing the damaged vents. You can see it’s restoration here - [https://youtu.be/v5qhTV2wwfE](https://youtu.be/v5qhTV2wwfE)

Amstrad corner is looking a bit untidy at the moment.

Oh and here’s another one. I found a green screen at auction so it’s prompted me to have a go at repairing my faulty 6128.

Ive replaced its fried AY chip with a replica one. It’s working now, but there’s no sound on channel 2 so I need to go back and check the traces.

wow, great that you mention it. I never have seen one in my life. That might be interesting to hack and do crazy stuff with the vector screen. I have seen once in my life a vector screen and those things are just crazy, for us guys used to the line by line screen creation (pixels).

That’s just a 464 Plus stand. There’s a C64 and Spectrum againts the wall just out of shot so it’s really more of an 8 bit corner but both of the main monitors here are usually hooked up to Amstrads.

The Vectrex has a flash cart so is totally programmable although I haven’t messed with it in the time I’ve owned it. It has an AY, I think Arkos tracker also works with Vectrex? One thing about the Vectrex screen, the contrast is crazy high. If you turn up the brightness fully then the images feel like they’re burning into your retinas. Dots don’t look like pixels, they look like blazing suns.
