TORTUES for Amstrad CPC

HE DID IT !!!!

Building on his mastery of Claude, I asked Michel Louvet yesterday if he could port the VG5000 version of the game Tortues to the Amstrad.

And… this morning, the DSK was waiting for me in my Messenger !!!

And you have to admit, the results are there !!!

Now sure, the graphics could use a little extra polish… BUT, the gameplay and the fun are completely intact.

To grab the DSK, head over here: Tortues 4 CPC by Oldschool Is Beautiful

A HUGE thank you to him!

I don’t know what I’m doing and it looks so ugly

So I guess the question is: as an exercise it’s ok, but as a port, what’s the point?

The goal is to rescue shipwrecked sailors by picking them up from their boat (and before it sinks).

So, the turtle must first touch a boat so the shipwrecked sailor can climb onto its back.
It then needs to head to the hospital (the little house that appears randomly in a corner of the screen) to save them.

However, the turtle must watch out for piranhas that are hunting it and want to devour it!

Fortunately, it can drop a decoy (using the spacebar) that will distract (and freeze) a piranha for a certain amount of time.

Decoys sometimes appear in the center of the screen: you need to collect them to refill your bag.

Graphically, it’s certainly not very pretty since it’s a VG5000 game… BUT all the fun comes from the gameplay, which quickly turns out to be VERY addictive.
