ok got ya.. i was more thinking gx4000 but not even sure if that will be supported.. (my dumb ass didnt even realize the cart port and expansion ports are seperate on plus!..gimme a break never seen one with my own eyes!😆 ) ---

It’s been a long time since I last used a CPC on a daily basis. If it doesn’t use a standard cartridge and won’t run on a GX4000 even with 128K of RAM, then unfortunately count me out. ---

So as I understand Toto will give us an Xmem (ram/rom box) changing the rom memory to 4mb instead to the 512kb. Additionally he will include a plastic shell for that and for the cpc+ series he will use a simple adaptor. I believe that with postage the price will be at 75 euros(speculation). ---

Knowing Toto, the price will be as low as possible. I can’t afford to buy all new Amstrad CPC hardware and software sadly, but I will buy for sure Vespertino. ---

One obvious issue with the PlayCity is that it’s not really compatible with the Plus. Whether that played into the decision or not is unknown. ---

It is a big thread and I don’t know the game requires 128k or not; but a CPC+ cartridge can be loaded on any CPC+ and the GX4000 if the game can work on 64k. It will need an add-on for the non plus CPCs (M4 or Plus2CPC, for example; not sure if others I’ve missed!). This is the same for my Hyperdrive and IIRC Alcon 2020. And it is just a different media to distribute games. Discs are scarce, and who wants a tape multi-load game in 2026? Because my 464 doesn’t have a disc drive (but I have a M4!). If it is just a cartridge, without any other added hardware, IMHO that’s perfectly fine and it doesn’t remove an iota of the achievement. ---

As they said on Twitch, it works with all CPC models (but for the GX4000 as it doesn’t have the expansion port), and the cartridge has 512KB of RAM and 3.5-4MB of rom. Nothing a RAM-ROM box of the era couldn’t offer. ---

According to what was mentioned so far: the cartridge comes with (up to) 4MB of ROM and 512K of RAM, so it doesn’t matter if your CPC already has 128K or 64K. We don’t exactly know for sure - details have not been shown. But what I understood is, that everything comes in a cartridge that you can connect directly to your CPCs expansion port. It could be as simple as a special RAM/ROM-box - just with a lot of ROM space. I would expect that we will see some passive adapters so it can be connected to the different expansion port connector variants (Centronics, Edge, MX4). ---

I don’t know, probably not but I’m not overly familiar with how PlayCity works in general (my interest died the moment it was described as not really Plus compatible). I would have thought it should be compatible if it’s just another AY, but maybe the amount of work to redesign the appropriate circuits made it all not worth it? ---

And I’m not sure I actually like racing games _that_ much. Nor do I really need a RAM expansion (and not one that isn’t Plus aware at any rate).
