Best plug-in device for CPC6128 in a computer museum

I recently visited the Retro Collective computer museum in Stroud, UK. Fantastic place with so much to see and interact with and going there brought back so many great memories (visit the cave, the arcade archive and a tour of the pump house)

They had a CPC6128 that you could play on but it only had 3 disc games. (Thankfully Sorcery plus was one). It was in great condition and the disc drive worked. A note by the side seemed to indicate ‘a modern floppy emulator, choose, CAT and run game’ (sounds like a gotek), but it wasn’t there. The other computers (Amiga, c64, Spectrum, Archimedes, Beeb, X68000 and more) had something, all simple, press a button, choose game from menu and run.

What device do you find the simplest to use with CPC6128 to do the same as for the other computers?

I’d say either a Gotek or an M4.

The Gotek will load any disk, but the M4 is really convenient, plus you can connect to the internet or local network to message other computers.

Even better if in the M4 you install a frontend like M4FE or RulezCharge. You can play any game without typing any command.

Yep, thirding a M4 board. They’re pretty much the peak of useful, and it’s got plenty of good frontends.

Best to have both M4 and Gotek. Because some games won’t load from M4 (they’ll seek drive A). On the other hand, M4 will download any software from web for you (RulezCharge).
