Welcome to the CPCWiki
We care about preserving Amstrad history, not harvesting your data. This policy explains exactly what we collect and why, in plain English.
Account Registration and Data Collection
Joining the community is straightforward. You can register with a standard email and password, or authenticate using Discourse ID, Google, or GitHub. When you connect, we collect basic details: your email, username, IP address, and browser type. If you use a third-party login, we receive only the basic authorization profile needed to establish your account. Naturally, we also store the content you generate, including your public forum posts, wiki edits, and private messages.
How We Use Your Data
We use your information strictly to keep the platform running. Your data maintains your active login session, delivers the forum notifications you choose to receive, and helps us block spam bots and abusive users.
Cookies and Analytics
Like almost every site on the internet, we use temporary cookies to keep you logged in and remember your site preferences. We also want to know which sections of the forum are the most active, so we use Google Analytics to measure traffic. This means Google Analytics places third-party cookies on the site to collect anonymized data, such as total page views and general browser types. They handle this data under their own privacy terms.
Data Sharing
We respect your privacy and never sell your personal information. The only time your IP or email leaves our server is if your account trips our automated abuse filters, at which point it pings anti-spam databases to help protect other communities. Aside from that, we will surrender data only if legally forced by a valid warrant.
Data Retention and Your Rights
The CPCWiki acts as a living archive of Amstrad knowledge. To prevent vandalism and protect the integrity of our shared history, you cannot edit or delete your public forum posts or wiki contributions once they are live. If you decide to leave the platform entirely, message an administrator to request account deletion. We will permanently anonymize your profile details, severing them from your identity, but your actual posts will stay up so old conversations still make sense. You can download a complete copy of your personal account data at any time through the forum control panel.
