The robot wave hits the cpcplus gx4000 range. “SAI (Special Artificial Investigation)” #zisquier brings an unfinished project assisted by Artificial Intelligence. Starring an
@elonmusk who hunts down humans.

The captured video is impressive and squeezes every drop out of the PLUS range.

Okay, I’ve deleted the post I wrote, I hadn’t realized, so I’ll put the video here then.

Is this the lost SCI for GX 4000 ?

No, it’s based on the Atari ST version. More information here.

The mostly unreleased SCI for the GX4000 looked terrible, judging by this old video:

(Which won’t embed due to restrictions, but you can click to watch it on YouTube)

Honestly, I don’t know how it plays but it definitely looks impressive. Certainly shows the GX could have pulled of a better racer than the rather lackluster efforts it got.

I’m tempted to throw 2 euro at it, but I’ve been burned on itch before

I’m not sure why this exists. I mean, sure, there is a certain ‘urban legend’ around the port of the game that ‘was to be but wasnt’ on the CPC plus. But is it so important in our hearts and minds that we absolutely need to have a game that somewhat ‘imitates’ the arcade version of Chase HQ 2, to the point we are being asked to pay 2 bucks for it?

Because, bottom-line, this is a port claimed to be generated out of an Atari ST game which itself was an average (and I’m probably being generous here) port of the arcade back in the day. And from the video alone, it doesn’t look very inviting.

I obviously don’t believe anyone would pay the price out of anything but plain curiosity. But I’m wondering what is on the mind of people who are flooding the scene with lazy AI generated ports (because most of what I’ve seen are ports; no original ideas). I’m starting to believe they just get them out of their AI oven and put them up on itchio asking for peoples’ ‘appreciation’ (with or without a price) without even bothering to thoroughly playtest them.

The sad part is, I see that the author of this had also made that Zelda port a few years ago which was an interesting achievement. Oh well…

I don’t think we need this game, but in impressed by the speed of the roads. There’s a kernel of an idea in how it’s being done that is certainly an intriguing idea for someone to pursue to make a better game.

But I’m loath to hand over even 2 euro for something that’s barely more than a tech demo, even just so I can have a peak inside and see what it is doing. The cash grab around some of these AI generated things is quite astounding.

I do like the LOL title  Or did AI come up with that as well? :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:

Well, even taking the ‘sarcasm’ into consideration, I am wondering who is the sarcasm pointed at? The tech bros or at us? And I quote the itchio page, “buy now [..] This is not the final version. Further graphical tweaks, minor or major, and code fixes will be made in future updates.”

How about, buy whenever the final version is available in the future? Or would saying that be considered ‘discouraging towards the developer’ these days?

Actually, once purchased, you already get access to future versions.

You don’t say! :stuck_out_tongue:

That does sort of depends on there being future versions. And the more sales that have already been made, the less (financial) incentive to keep developing.

I’m loath to hand over €2 for different reasons. Special Artificial Investigation is effectively a conversion of a commercial game for which the author doesn’t hold the intellectual property rights.

No doubt someone will upload the binary before long. The guy using AI to develop this probably would have done better putting it out as a “Buy Me a Coffee” type project. He might actually make more money that way!
