Strict Artificial Intelligence Policy
Rejection of AI-generated software
To preserve the authenticity, quality, and historical legacy of the Amstrad CPC community, CPC-Power does not accept any software, game, or tool designed—either partially or entirely—using generative artificial intelligence.
Our database aims to archive human creativity and original work by enthusiasts. Any submitted content created using AI will be systematically rejected or removed.
Thank you for your understanding and for respecting the community’s work.
I wonder if they (fore)saw the shit hitting the fan…
Generative AI, so LLM-generated graphics, sound, text, I assume. Which is not necessarily something I agree with 100 percent but I can understand it and think it’s a reasonable defensible position.
But if it’s a blanket ban on any AI tooling/review/optimisation etc, assistance used to help produce a game, that’s another matter completely, because those of us old farts who have been coding for 30 years professionally, and find AI useful as a coding assistant, would have issues with that.
(FWIW all my code is put out for free under the GPL, and where I use AI to assist and to optimise, for example, I am fully transparent about it. I also use human drawn art and human made music in my projects, and credit fully and appropriately)
Yeah as it’s written it’s pretty absolutist; it’s a blanket statement that would even prohibit a simple googling, it seems to me
At this point, I think it’s tilting at windmills, but we’re going to see a lot of that I suspect until people just accept it exists.
I think that’s pretty clear that it doesn’t mean using Google.
I mean, we are discussing a translation and we won’t be the ones enforcing the policy, so that’s CPC Power’s business. And I believe it is their decision, independently of me agreeing or not, of what they want to preserve or not.
If anything, I’m glad there’s clarity. Not having a policy these days is more of a problem ![]()
EDIT: this got me confused, actually:
Our database aims to archive human creativity and original work by enthusiasts
Because there’s LLM generated art in CPC Power. So this is only for software!
Funny thing is that the Steam policy is the opposite. You’re supposed to declare anything that uses AI-generated art or “player-facing” assets but they aren’t bothered about AI-assisted code (accepting I think that everybody will be using some).
“any software, game, or tool designed—either partially or entirely—using generative artificial intelligence”
And yet… I literally just googled a Linux command to fix something on my NAS and I got the reply from the AI overview. So…
Where is this art you speak of? ![]()
I don’t think your example is what is understood as “AI assisted development” but, as I said, it is for CPC Power to enforce and decide.
I don’t put the time or resources to maintain CPC Power, I’m not going to tell Bruno what to accept or not, or how to run his site.
There is cover art that it is pretty obvious that it has been generated with AI.
EDIT: I could be mistaken as well, I’m not an expert ![]()
There is one artist who does loading screens which are pretty good, but they do have a hint of AI about them, but can’t be sure.
I haven’t seen that. My comment was related to cover art only.
