Croco Magneto (WebGPU)

A remake of the mighty Croco Magneto for the browser, which was an Amstrad CPC public domain game developed in 1989! Oh er

I’ve remade this in so many languages, it’s obscene, but always fun. One of them has been reviewed on youTube (And, even though it was just a flash remake when trying the Monkey language, it did alright) by Zoe from GameHammer, this time around though, I decided to do a proper job!

I love this game, so simple, yet, very addictive! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Both this game and the previous one can’t be executed in my old PC Chrome browser :frowning: :

Yep, if your hardware has an old GPU, then, it wont run, as it uses WebGPU, which is new browser technology… Out of curiosity, what is your GPU? And is this Windows? If your in Linux, using Chromium, WebGPU isnt enabled by default, support on Linux isnt officially in yet, Firefox doesnt even have it, and with Chromium, you have to enable it in the “experimental” settings.

This runs great for me, excellent port

PS Please, everyone, take care to post in the correct category…

Yes, Windows 10 on an old good i5-4460 and Intel HD Graphics 4600. Weird that (whatever)BASIC programs can’t run on it…

Runs great for me too on a fairly crappy PC, and I’d completely forgotten about this game! First played it on an Amstrad Action covertape and found it very addictive, and I’ve just checked and it’s one of the many games converted to the GX4000 so will be playing it more later on tonight

I’m guessing it’s driver issues, and the browser is rejecting the [old] driver, just a guess. If you go to “Developer tools” in the browsers options, and look at the console output, if it is whinging about the graphics adaptor, that’ll probably be it.

Have you tried another browser, such as Edge?

Just FYI Firefox on Linux does have WebGPU (just tried it), though you currently have to turn on “dom.webgpu.enabled” in about:config to get it.
