You thought the matter was settled… Well, think again!
I have the distinct honor, and above all, the immense pleasure, of announcing the arrival of version 2.5 of FORTRESS!
Following valuable feedback from many a player, and after long consultations with the most eminent advisors of my realm (some of whom had clearly overindulged in mead), a few changes and improvements have been made to my humble little game.
The goal? To make battles more engaging, more fun… and as conducive as ever to the destruction of innocent castles!
Here’s what’s new on the menu:
- Gauges can now be displayed or hidden!
For those who wish to maintain a semblance of civilization, the force and angle gauges can remain visible.
But for the boldest among you, it is now possible to hide them!
The noble warrior will then have to rely solely on muscle memory to reproduce the perfect shot… and pray that their cannonball doesn’t end up visiting the neighboring kingdom.
- The AI has lost some of its ferocity!
In Human vs. Computer mode, our mechanical opponent is now a bit less aggressive.
Matches should thus be more accessible to poor mortals who don’t wish to be immediately reduced to dust by a soulless machine.
- The computer now takes much less time to think!
After visibly consulting a few dusty grimoires on medieval ballistics, our digital opponent has decided to make its decisions faster.
Because waiting three moons between every shot was, frankly, a tad tedious…
- The wind, on the other hand, has become downright rude!
Its whims have been amplified, and the strongest gusts can now seriously disrupt the trajectory of your cannonball. Worse still: during extreme gales, a cannonball fired with too little force can now do a U-turn and come straight back to its sender! A wonderful opportunity to discover that your own castle can also serve as a target.
In short, an update mainly dedicated to pure gaming fun and a few extra bits of trickery.
The DSKs are attached to this post (and also available at the very end of the dedicated webpage: AmstradMuseum TITAN : Programmes en BASIC Amstrad CPC )
Let the cannons roar, let the fortress walls shake…
And may the best demolisher win!
