Revive8bit games

Hi everyone,

My name is Vassilis Perantzakis (I know… a mouthfull as all Greek names), and I go by Vasper on the Internets…

I am a software engineer and the past few months, after starting to learn Z80 assembly, I found out that frontier AI is now more than capable of programming for our favourite retro machines. It can create some excellent games under correct instructions and supervision. So, I started Revive8bit. There is one more person helping me right now and hopefully more will join to improve graphics and sound production.

Anyways, I have a list of games that I have put out there, and you can find them on our Youtube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/@Revive8Bit (Please subscribe)

Those games are also opensourced on my github, vaspervnp (Vassilis Perantzakis) / Repositories · GitHub
Please feel free to use as you wish. I only ask that you mention Revive8bit.

List of games:

  • Mars Teraforming
  • The Shaft
  • Creepers
  • Aetheria
  • Furious Fowls
  • Homeplanet

Every youtube video for the games contains the links to download the respective game and it’s manual on the first comment of the video.

There is a webpage coming soon (https://revive8bit.com) where you will be able to “purchase” the games. I know there are platforms to do that, but those pose a problem with taxation, so I will have to accept purchases only from my page. Games will continue to be free and opensource and anyone will be able to download them from our Youtube channel.

Yesterday, I released Galaga for the Amstrad CPC.

It was a request from a friend and colleague and I enjoyed testing it very much. A special thanks to the people here at the CPC wiki forum for helping me find faults and fix them.

Lots of interesting things.
Thanks a lot for sharing your work.

I think unfortunately it might be a bit late for them to see that message now…
