Replying to myself I might have found an answer.
How about:
- an AI experiment that happens to produce a half-baked game is an experiment → go into AI category. This includes IMHO many recently posted topics, like CPCstein, galaga, OutRun2026, etc. These are not finished games, putting them into a games category tends to upset people. They are fine in an AI category.
- a game ready to be played should go into “games” category, with proper tags. If it’s a good game people will appreciate it for what it is. And don’t complain if a game posted in games was made partly with AI. Judge it as a game. And if it’s a bad game with bugs and bad graphics and flicker, then boo it because it’s a bad game. AI or not. If it was actually an AI experiment it belongs to AI category, not games category.
So, the category to create would be: “AI-related discussion”, “AI experiments” or something.
I guess this might resolve a lot of friction? What do you think?
