Anthropic confirms new Claude Code limits to prevent game cloning — users report Opus 5.5 is also actively blocking reverse engineering tasks ![]()
claude has been refusing to directly copy code for a while… it will look at a function, see what it does, then reconstruct it with its own code that spits out the same result
ive heard a few stories from mate, asking it to build a “sniffer” so he could grab signals from a controller (nRF24L01 based)…it flatly refused to make a sniffer… he had to reframe the question asking it to reverse engineer it for his own uses and education!
that said…there are ways around the blocks it throws up!
Claude is already acting up, and yes, there are ways to bypass it…
Example: I grab an 8-bit sprite of a well-known character online and ask it to use it and insert it into a small Amstrad animation; it replies that it can’t do so because of copyright issues. I redraw the sprite using RGAS and ask it again to insert it, and it does so without any problem—even though it’s the exact same character.
Nobody really cares about tiny 8-bit conversions though, this is big publishers putting pressure on Anthropic to stop ports of brand new AAA console titles to PC. And in those cases working around things are less trivial.
Yes I do, I care… LOL
I was just giving an example of Claude’s recent blocks… ![]()
