“Palomitas de maiz IA” / “POPCORN AI” brings us the conversion of the eponymous title with a #CGA vibe in #mode1 for 128k, produced by @Asic28 and developed by ai.
It runs well; all I need now is to play the original so I can compare them.

Yeah this is pretty good, it plays well. Just make sure you get the laser powerup!
Well done and thank you

Well, at least this time around the ‘creator’ has disclosed the use of AI. That’s a step forward I guess. It’s funny that the selection menu employs the ‘F’ keys that the CPC doesn’t have… I am wondering if he wouldnt bother to change those to plain numbers, or if he couldnt talk the AI into doing it? ![]()
Anyway, not a bad CGA game made by (from the itchio page) Christophe Lacaze (programming) and Frédérick Raynal (graphics), and not a bad port made by AI. Good choice to convert a CGA game as the graphics translate flawlesly.
In fairness, from the 664 onwards the keys on the numeric keypad are labelled f0-f9 so it’s entirely possible to just not know that the 464 was different.
Oh, you are right! I just looked at my 6128! Clumsy me.
So, AI is innocent on that.
I think I’ve spent so long seeing the Plus f1/f2 startup menu that I thought “wait, it does have f keys doesn’t it?” when I read your comment then had to go check. ![]()
Hey, if it’s got the F keys it’s not a proper Amstrad ![]()
I see that as of 2026-10-25, Lake Software/asic28 is now charging $1 for Popcorn - which was originally a public domain game - as well as all his other AI-assisted CPC conversions.
Yeah, a bit strange. It doesn’t make sense, but well, it’s their wish to Aladdin’s lamp. ![]()
