I was always disappointed with how incredibly slow The Great Escape is compared with the Spectrum version.
Here is a much faster version, optimised with Claude.
Just watching the demo mode is lovely now.

This is a huge improvement. It looks about twice as fast, and much easier to look at. Seems like a winner to me.
Now speaking of slow and/or jerky old games, I wonder if somebody could have a go at speeding up H.A.T.E or fixing the janky screen update in Splat?

Whoo, that’s how it should have been. It was particularly slugish.

Good job ! I’m sure a full joypad version playable on GX4000 would be appreciated

It would be really interesting to see a CPC conversion of the ZX version of “Where Time Stood Still”—a game that bears a striking resemblance to “The Great Escape.”

Indeed, I was always disappointed that I couldn’t play this game on the Amstrad; long live cpcrulez

This is amazing! It’s a shame I didn’t see it this way back in the ’80s. It would be fantastic to make the most of all four colours and create something like this, or even better!
