GX Snapper Plus: A New Cartridge for Amstrad GX4000 and CPC Plus

Cracken_Designs continues the Snapper series with the GX Snapper Plus, a new minimalist cartridge designed in Spain for the Amstrad GX4000 and CPC Plus.

The cartridge features a Raspberry Pi Pico 2-series microcontroller and 8 MB of PSRAM, opening the door to future possibilities and expansions. Its creator has also developed an original solution for handling the ACID system, using a different approach from the usual methods.

A promising new hardware project for Amstrad Plus and GX4000 users!

I wonder what options are present under that “Config” folder

It’s great to see another GX4000/Plus multicart on the way.

How does this one compare to the PICOGX? Specifically, what does it offer that the PICOGX—and the now-defunct C4CPC—don’t? Also, what’s the expected retail price, and will it be competitive with the PICOGX?

It would also be interesting to see if future multicarts could include Wi-Fi support, allowing direct access to files from a PC or even connecting to BBS services.

A Snapshot feature would be very cool.

Certainly, if you already own a PigoGX, you don’t need this new hardware; however, it does offer an interesting feature—DSK file loading. As for the price, nothing is known yet, but I will continue to add information as it becomes available. Regards.

Disc loading is the one thing missing from the PICOGX and C4CPC, I have 2 C4CPC’s which I use in my modded 6128plus and 128k 464plus. the PicoGX lives in my 128k GX4000. The other 6128plus is in stock config. not even a reset button or flash cart. It has the original Parados 1.1 cart I made (although I have now changed the eprom in it to 1.2P)

GX Snapper now supports .DSK (useful for the Plus series) and .SNA formats, in addition to .CPR. The cartridge itself converts the latter two formats on the fly. It is nearing completion, and the plan is for it to be available by the last week of September.

Indeed, this person is a distributor/seller of the product, since the author does not want to handle shipping or anything of the sort—with the exception of a small batch offered on the forum for regular followers of his work, I mentioned in the first post.
