No amount of CPC photos is “too much” ![]()
Sorry about the couple of non-amstrad machines in the full lounge photo. I mean an MSX, A8, C64, Speccy +2, Elk, A1200, N64 and selection of Sega Consoles all setup lead to a great fun weekend!
My Favourite machine in that lot… Is probably my “4128plus”. I love the easy ability to load from Tape, Disc, Gotek, Cart all in one machine ands 2 wires to the CM14 monitor.

You could consider looking for a 464 Plus and putting extra memory in it.
Want the full package - including the disk drive. It is not about the memory - more about the disk drive.
so many 464 plus machines
I want one!
Little jelly tbh. Not that I have space or storage for that many machines ![]()
Well, if you can afford the price of 3" disks then I suppose you can afford to pay whatever a qwerty 6128+ sells for these days. They’re so expensive I don’t own a single disk.
One of the 464 plus systems at the top of the row is a ‘super plus’ with FDC controller, 128k, reset button etc
I will be consolidating these down at some point - there is no need to have so many duplicates just to cover from failures and I’ll put them on here rather than eBay so you get first dibs and an honest price.
Played with this on Wed and got to 4th screen on Skeet. Really surprised the gun works at all tbh and is still accurate!
Wait, you can mod a GX4000 with 128k? I need to look into this…
Back in the '80s, I bought a 6128 chip and put it in my 464 (along with a 64k Dk’Tronics expansion and DDI-1 and FD-1), I might be more scared about risking my GX4000 now though!
As mods go it is not too difficult, Piggyback 2 extra RAM chips on top of the stock ones, and the difficult bit, wire on pin on each to a pin on the ASIC. 128k on GX-4000 - CPCWiki
Thanks for that. It’s been so long since I soldered anything, I’m scared I’d fry my console! But that’s very cool.
Here’s my GX4000 looking nice and crisp playing Pang on the Commodore 1084, and looking not so crisp, but running @Anthony_Flack’s marvellous Bomb Jack conversion, on a standard PAL TV.
Question - is there a benefit in upping the memory in a GX?
